ray miller arabianna 1924, great oriental foxtrot

https://youtu.be/ESZzQkJa9rA
I love this one! I have some really great stuff to record and put up soon from the same lot. Ray Miller's black and white boys play Arabianna in early 1924. I did a bit of noise reduction on this but tried to be gentle...

finally managed to do something about the spam

Hi all, Annoyingly enough the bord has been flooded with spam of late (at least it's healthy for the ratings) I've finally managed to hopefully prevent it by asking a couple of security questions, these are what does hmv stand for? and what's the most common speed for records from before the 50s If ...

hutch these foolish things 1936, newly restored by me

https://youtu.be/QMuFhQeEQKw Leslie Hutchinson, one of my very favorite singers, sings these foolish things, on parlophone f373. Please can I have your opinions on how this sounds? the hum actually seems to be from the record itself, I recorded flat however and may have accidentally brought out the ...

Re: why's this worth so much ?

A good question! I have a beautiful no 5b but I'm not sure why this sold for so much. Perhaps someone who owns one or has heard one can let us know?

Re: Who's this ?

Nice to see you taking such an interest in the new forum Mike, assuming you are Mike. There's a reason that he is not on this forum, and that is so that it doesn't become a clone of every other uk or supposedly uk forum (inc the tmf) that has been on the net in the last 5 years. I'm removing the lin...

Re: Other forum ypu are on

I'm not the guy to ask about this, but I believe that the stress inflicted by these folks didn't help the poster's mother, who was a cancer sufferer, but it really is not my business, or really that of this forum, not that I mind!

a flat transfer experiment that actually sounds great!

Recently I've bought a cable to plug my turntable into the microphone socket of my mixer, to get a flat signal. This bypasses any modern equalisation that might be applied by the mixer, it sounds very different! Quite frankly I don't like to actually sit and listen to it flat, however it seems to be...
